The two player game:

The two player game is a competitive game. Players score points by manoeuvring their rockets across the board to the solar system opposite avoiding mines and voids along the way.

The three player game:

This also is a competitive game. In the three player game players try and gain points by moving to either of their opponents solar systems. So each player has the choice of two target solar systems from which to gain points. Each player starts in a solar system that is one removed from the other. For example, in the diagram below that would be orange, green and purple or, blue, grey and yellow.

The four player game:

The four player game is competitive. It can be played individually or in teams. As in the two player game players score points by manoeuvring their rockets across the board to the solar system opposite avoiding mines and voids along the way.

The five player game:

A less competitive game as planning is tricky as mines are deployed and voids are created at speed. The game is best played quickly and for about an hour. One solar system will be uncontested. The player opposite this solar system can score in either solar system to either side but not in the empty solar system opposite. This is recommended for a new player to the game.

The six player game:

As the five player game but all solar zones are contested. Like the four player game can also be played in teams.

Game length:

Players choose how long the game will take prior to starting. A typical game can last about 60 minutes but you can choose to play for 90 minutes or more. Once a time is chosen set a timer. When the alarm sounds complete that round. Then play three full rounds. After the end of the third round the game ends and the player with the most points is the winner. The game can be finished earlier if a player gains 99 points prior to the timer going off.

Tactics

Depending on the circumstances here are some tactics to consider:

  1. Use other player rockets in connected moves. Do not consider them simply as a threat.
  2. If you choose to use a move action to deploy a Celestial on to the board it may be efficient to place the Celestial well away from the winning player before they get the chance to place it.
  3. Quickly move Celestials to break any existing linked moves by an opponent.
  4. Do not shy from destroying Celestials with 2 mines.
  5. Weopnise voids by distributing them with Celestials to remove rockets on their paths of travel.
  6. Use Celestials to clear congested areas of voids.

Setups

A player can place their rockets anywhere they want within their solar zone at set up prior to the beginning of the game. Only one rocket can occupy a single hexagon. However, they may be placed in such a way so that they can make deflector moves within the solar zone which moves a rocket seven hexagons into the contested zone. This may offer an advantage. There are numerous ways to set up the rockets. Some examples are in the picture below.
